Paralegal
You'll have a front-row seat to Cambridge's most exciting spin-outs and start-ups - helping fuel the next generation of world-changing companies from the inside.

West Cambridge | From £30,000 | Full-time, permanent | Hybrid (2 days WFH)
Move beyond the traditional legal world - help us fuel the next generation of emerging companies instead. We’re looking for a Paralegal to join the team working with the University of Cambridge’s most exciting spin-outs and start-ups.
Why you will love this role:
You’ll be at the heart of the investment team. Imagine starting your week supporting an investment into a breakthrough biotech spin-out and ending it reviewing the board minutes of a pioneering cleantech start-up.
As you settle in, you’ll become an integral part of our portfolio management. You’ll work closely with our Legal Counsel, occupying a front-row seat as investments actually happen. We’re a small, collaborative team, which means your voice is heard and your work is visible.
Over time, you will be expected to take on responsibility for more complex drafting and stakeholder management. For the right person, we’re even open to supporting your development to achieve full qualification. You’ll get the mentorship, the exposure, and the breadth of transactions required for a standout career in law and VC.
What we're looking for:
A genuine passion for spin-outs and start-ups - you’re excited by innovation and want to see Cambridge-born ideas change the world
Top-tier organisation - deals move fast, so you’ll need to stay on top of deadlines without breaking a sweat
A sharp eye for detail - whether it’s a cap table or a board minute
The ability to learn fast - venture capital has its own language, and with support, we’ll need you to pick it up quickly
Excellent communication skills - you can talk to everyone from founders to seasoned investors with clarity and ease
A solid legal foundation - you’ll have a law degree or equivalent experience that shows you’re serious about a legal career
A proactive mindset - you don't wait to be told what to do; you see a gap and you fill it
Team spirit - we’re a tight-knit group, so being helpful and collaborative is a must
Nice to have:
It’s great if you’ve already spent some time in a corporate or IP legal team, or if you’ve had a go at reviewing termsheets, Shareholders’ Agreements or Articles of Association
If you’re familiar with BVCA-style documents, DocuSign, or have an interest on legal tech and innovation, you’ll fit right in
Diversity and equality matter:
These are our ideal requirements, but we know some people are less likely to apply for the role unless they check every single box. At Cambridge Enterprise, we promote a diverse, inclusive and empowering culture, so if you feel you have most of the skills and experience needed, we’d love to hear from you.
If you have any questions about the interview process, or if you need any reasonable adjustments, please don’t hesitate to contact the People & Culture team at people@enterprise.cam.ac.uk
